Licensing
Your licence key switches the Caching Out Pro add-on on and sets how many sites you can use it on. Every paid plan unlocks the same full feature set; the only difference is the number of sites covered.

Switching Pro on
The free Caching Out plugin needs no licence: page caching, purging, browser caching, compression and lazy loading are on the moment it is activated.
The Caching Out Pro add-on is not switched on until a licence is validated. Until then it scans and audits: Insights shows your score, the Page Audit lists what Pro would change and why, the Filesystem Check shows what your host allows, and every Pro setting you save is kept. Nothing changes for your visitors. A notice on the plugin's pages says "Caching Out Pro is installed but not switched on", with buttons to run the scan or enter your licence.
The moment your licence is validated, Pro switches on: it applies the Pro settings you saved (or its defaults if you saved none), clears the cache and, if preloading is on, starts preloading. If your licence later lapses, Pro keeps running as it is; only updates, support and the AI Assistant stop until it is renewed. If you take up the money-back guarantee, the licence is revoked and Pro switches off again at its next check; your site continues on the free plugin. The free plugin underneath is never affected either way.
Sites that installed Pro before this behaviour existed are switched on already and stay that way.
Activating your license
- Buy a plan at https://cachingout.com/pricing/. An account on cachingout.com is created for you at checkout.
- Within a few minutes you receive an email from support@cachingout.com with the subject "Your Caching Out License Key". It carries your key, the download link for the Pro add-on zip and the install steps. Keep that email: the key is not shown in your account. If it has not arrived after 15 minutes, check your spam folder, then write to support@cachingout.com from the address you bought with.
- Install the free Caching Out plugin, then upload and activate the Pro add-on zip (Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin). See Getting started, section 5.
- Go to Caching Out > Settings > License, paste your licence key and click Activate.
The plugin verifies your licence with the licence server and switches Pro on. It re-checks the licence once a day. If your licence lapses, the plugin keeps working; updates, support and the assistant stop until you renew.
Managing your license
Viewing license status
The License tab shows your current license status:
- Active: License is valid and all features are enabled
- Expired: License has passed its renewal date. Features continue to work but updates are paused.
- No License: No key entered. The plugin works but you won't receive updates.
Renewing
Your subscription renews by itself each year. You can cancel renewal, and reactivate it, from your account on cachingout.com (My Account > Subscriptions). If you cancel, the plugin tells you when the licence ends and keeps working after that; updates, support and the assistant stop until you renew.
Transferring
You can move a license from one site to another by deactivating it on the old site and activating it on the new site. This is useful when migrating sites or changing domains.
Upgrading
Upgrading from Single to Plus, or from Plus to Multi, from your account is not available yet. To move to a larger plan, write to support@cachingout.com.
Developer tier
The Developer tier is internal: a zero-cost, never-expiring key for Caching Out's own test sites, issued by hand. It is not sold and cannot be requested from the site. Staging and local copies of a licensed site count against the licence's site limit like any other site; deactivate the licence on a copy you no longer use to free its seat.
A developer key (it starts with RS-DEV-) is checked by the licence server like any other key. There is no offline or development-site exception: a site that cannot reach the server runs Pro in its installed-but-not-switched-on state.
Troubleshooting
Licence won't activate. Check the key is entered exactly as in the email (no extra spaces). Check you have not reached your site limit: deactivate the licence on a site you no longer use first.
Licence shows as expired but I renewed. The plugin re-checks the licence once a day. To check at once, deactivate the licence on the License tab and activate it again with the same key.
I lost the email with my key. Write to support@cachingout.com from the address you bought with; the key is not shown in your account.
I changed my domain and the licence broke. Deactivate the licence on the old domain first, then activate it on the new one. If the old domain is no longer reachable, contact support.
